Avery Associates has been in business over twenty-five years providing labor negotiations and executive search functions to cities and counties in California and other western states. The firm is now pleased to announce the creation of a new Management Group to complement its current services.

Our Management Group offers a great opportunity to expand the firm's services and further help local governments address compelling issues in these difficult economic times. It is a group of local government professionals who have previously done exceptional work together and have considerable practical problem-solving skills based on extensive local government, special district and non- profit work experience.

The Management Group is experienced in fiscal and budget management, economic development, conducting organizational assessments to help downsize organizations, negotiations, risk management and other disciplines necessary to help local government cope with a dramatically changed economic and political climate.

The Management Group takes an innovative and solutions-based approach focused on addressing critical challenges that are at the core of the current fiscal crisis in local governments and special districts, including:

• Reviewing escalating costs of public services, most notably, public safety, health, and retirement benefits
• Reducing costs by consolidating departments and operations
• Deciding when outsourcing or consolidating services is cost effective
• Unwinding failing projects and re-negotiating commitments
• Developing budget models to assess financial consequences of decisions
• Coaching, evaluating, and team building staff to improve their effectiveness

The Management Group will work with you to assess the problem, develop practical solutions, and to assist you with building consensus and teamwork with employees and community and interest groups for successful implementation.
